The Watch #1, 2000

Volume 2: 5 issues, art by Andrew Phillips and Stewart McKenny.

After the first two series, it is now to be followed by a number of miniseries, starting with Casus Belli (preview edition now out).

I never really saw myself as a super hero writer. I enjoy the form when approached with conscious intent, but mostly it seems to be unable to escape its generic nature. Superheroes will eat itself. The editor of Phosphorescent and I agreed that a book of this nature might, however, be finacially viable.

My intention with The Watch, therefore, became an attempt to interpret the super hero story filtered through a political worldview, but also have bastards blowing things up and tell a story about remarkable people. I don't know if it succeeds, but I do know I've been giving myself an accelerated course in wrangling plot under control.
