Dunwich #1, 2000

Written by Christian Read

Phosphorescent Comics

A tale of the Cthulhu Mythos, in three issues.

Dunwich was the first bit of fiction I ever wrote for the comic form. I think it suffers from a few serious flaws in craft, but is nonetheless something I'm proud of. It was my attempt to add a modernist flavour to the Cthulhu Mythos. You can see my views on "modern" horror if you look closely.

The Plot: Rose and Nathaniel, priests of various Lovecraft deities attempt to recreate the events of the story "The Dunwich Horror". They cross paths with a local cult and some white hat monster hunters. Death and madness and sacrifice ensue.
